On Thursday our three hour challenge was to paint 

the beautiful model in a full Native American headdress.

Today, in the mail, I received my new drivers license

 with an updated photo.

The class was full so I chose to paint our beautiful

I inherited a collection on comics from the 1930's and 40's. 

This is one of the things I did with them.

PROFILE

It took me six tries and over half of our figure painting session to come up with 

an acceptable drawing of our model.  My first pass with color also had to be wiped 

along with the drawing.  With thirty minutes left in our session  I relaxed and

had fun doing this profile.

RECLINING NUDE

I learned a lot today in our regular Tuesday figure painting session.

SIDNEY

Last week I spent most of my days painting en plein air in Winters

California.  Eight to twelve hour days working on location are hard on my 

'delicate sensibilities'.  The exhaustion caused by sun exposure and hiking down 

hill to creek side caused me to "fall off my horse" and question my ability to paint 

anything worth looking at.

Today, thanks to a couple of days rest and our lovely model Sidney,

"I'm back in the saddle again".

This is the second painting I did for the Winters Plein Air Competition.

 The opening is at 6pm tomorrow, Friday May 11, at the Briggs gallery in

Winters, California

This week many of my friends and I are taking part in the Winters

California Plein Air competition.  This is the first of three paintings I 

will be hanging in the the show beginning this Friday.
